NFL: Saints v Panthers SEPT 27

First, congratulations to both teams for making it to the big dance. Pigskin Lipstick picks the Panthers over the Broncos in a lopsided victory, and here’s why. I have been photographing the Panthers all season, and I also live part of the year in Denver. Consequently, I’ve been exposed to these teams a great deal. (1) The Panthers were the best team in the NFL all season, despite what the naysayers have said. They were a few points away from an undefeated season. How can they not be the best? The Broncos, on the other hand, backed into the Superbowl with a little help from the ailing Patriots and the injury-decimated Steelers. (2) While the Broncos defense is the best in the NFL, the Panthers are playing out of their minds offensively. It is all but impossible to stop Cam Newton and the myriad of offensive plays available with the big guy a threat on every play. The Broncos defense haven’t faced another offense like the Panthers’ offense; they will not be able to cope. (3) The Panthers’ defense isn’t too shabby either. Their turnover ratio is out of sight, and with Peyton’s aging arm, I predict one or more interceptions. The team who wins the takeaway game, wins the Superbowl. The Panthers do a great job of protecting the football, so they will win this important battle. (4) The Panthers are younger and quicker. Period. The Broncos offense trudges along led by an aging quarterback. Their receivers drop a lot of balls, and I just don’t think they will outgun the Panthers. I’m going out on a limb here and predict a Panther win 35-10.
